The Road to Majority
Posted:Wed, 10 Mar 2010 11:16:38 -0500
Elephant Ears:- Now that we have lost the Senate majority, we need to find a way to get it back. This is obviously a long process that will not happen for at least 4 years (unless an unforseen opening occurs). Even so, the GOP needs to start doing things to position themselves to retake the Senate in 2011; and also hold the House in 2009.

Penn & Teller's Simple Message To Terrorists
Posted:Wed, 10 Mar 2010 11:16:32 -0500
Conservative Propaganda:- Penn & Teller give their simple message to the suicide skyjackers of September 11 in this video advocating new construction on the site of the World Trade Center, which you can watch here. There is an emotional appeal to rebuilding the fallen World Trade Center even taller than before as a rebuke to the contemptible Islam which sought to knock them down. On the other hand, the World Trade Center was a bad idea, economically and socially, from the beginning. They cleared away a working neighborhood of businesses to make way for the WTC,...
Climategate: The Official Cover-Up

Dogwood Pundit:- If there’s one thing that stinks even more than Climategate, it’s the attempts we’re seeing everywhere from the IPCC and Penn State University to the BBC to pretend that nothing seriously bad has happened, that “the science” is still “settled”, and that it’s perfectly OK for the authorities go on throwing loads more of our money at a problem that doesn’t exist. Read the whole thing here.

He was the head football coach of the Indiana Hoosiers and former head coach of Miami University. From all accounts he was a good coach and an outstanding man. I hope his family is able to find comfort in knowing that he had a profound effect on many student athletes.

Goodbye Shadow

From Where I Sit...:- We had to put Shadow down today. His quality of life has been sliding downhill for quite some time now. It was a very difficult decision to make, but we know it was the right thing to do. We will miss him very much. He came to us somewhere around Jennifer's 15th birthday. He has survived not only our kids but our grandkids as well. What a wonderful dog. We love you Shadow.

From Where I Sit...:- I just found out this afternoon that one of my cousins had died in a car accident. Mary was much younger than me and, unfortunately, I did not know her very well. Most of my memories of her are from my childhood. And, even then, I really don't remember a lot about her other than both she and her sister looked a lot like their father. However, I had the fortune of meeting her again some 10 or 12 years ago at another cousin's wedding. I found her to be an absolutely lovely young woman. She was beautiful, intelligent, and, in all ways, quite an impressive woman. I am feeling extremely sad that her life should be taken at such a young age. I really wish I had gotten to know her and her family better. I'm embarassed to say that I don't even know if she has any children. I know that her mother, my aunt, must be feeling like her soul has been ripped from her chest. Unfortunately, I have experienced this pain. Joan, there is nothing I can say or do that will take the hurt...

What Bill Clinton Wanted to Say in Massachusetts
Posted:Tue, 9 Mar 2010 23:15:30 -0500
Isophorone:- Former President Bill Clinton took time off from helping the people of Haiti by appearing at a rally for Democratic Massachusetts U.S. Senate candidate Martha Coakley. Sure he gave a stump speech, but we think that if he were candid, he would describe Coakley in much the same way he allegedly described Barack Obama. So just imagine Clinton saying this:

I stumbled across a link yesterday about Wyche running for the Republican nomination for Pickens County (SC) Council. It turns out he defeated the incumbent by a wide margin. Here's hoping he wins the general election and makes a positive difference in that community.
